Ai2 is a Seattle-based nonprofit research institute that publishes models with their training data, code and checkpoints, mostly under Apache 2.0. That makes it unusually auditable for regulated EU buyers. As a US organisation it is exposed to the CLOUD Act and FISA 702. It has no published security certifications or EU AI Act statement that I could find. It is also going through a leadership transition: the CEO stepped down in March 2026 and an interim CEO is in place.
