Anthracite is not a registered company but a loosely organised, donation-funded open-source collective best known for the 'Magnum' line of roleplay-oriented fine-tunes built on top of third-party base models (Mistral, Qwen, Gemma, Yi) under mixed licences. No legal entity, headquarters, or named leadership is publicly disclosed, so standard enterprise due-diligence checks — jurisdiction, GDPR contracting, AI Act documentation, security certification — cannot be verified one way or the other. Training data reportedly includes synthetic text distilled from Anthropic's Claude 3 models and the models are explicitly tuned to remove safety refusals, both of which raise provenance and content-risk concerns for regulated deployments.
