Intern Large Models is the open foundation model project of the Shanghai Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, a Chinese state-backed research institute. Its models (InternLM, InternVL, Intern-S) are distributed under permissive open-source licences (Apache 2.0) with extensive academic technical reporting, but the organisation maintains no EU establishment, no GDPR data processing mechanisms, and no formal EU AI Act Article 53 compliance disclosures.
