The Swiss AI Initiative is a public-sector academic collaboration, not a company. It publishes Apertus with open weights, open training-data pipelines and a technical report, and it applies opt-out filtering that is designed around EU AI Act data provisions. It has no US parent, which is a strong jurisdiction profile for EU regulated buyers. Cautions: it is a research project with no commercial SLA or DPA, no certifications were found, the models trail leading US/Chinese open models on some tasks, and its EU AI Act compliance claims are self-published and unaudited.
