Set up your agent
Paste one prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Hermes or another agent. It connects Stav's MCP server, installs Stav's skills and checks that both work.
Your agent can work in your Stav workspace for you: find a model for a task, move an app onto Stav, set where your requests may run, and show where your credits go. It does this through Stav's MCP server and four Stav skills.
This page connects your agent to your workspace. To send your agent's own model traffic through Stav instead, see the recipes for Claude Code, Codex and Hermes.
Set up with one prompt
Copy this prompt into your agent. It finds out which agent it is, installs what it can, has you sign in, and checks that the connection works. Setup makes no paid call.
Set up Stav in this agent. Do what you can yourself; walk me through anything only I can do.
Stav (https://stav.ai) is an EU-sovereign AI gateway. Its MCP server is https://stav.ai/mcp. Its public skills — move-to-stav, find-a-model, set-policy and cost-review — are in https://github.com/stavhq/customer-skills.
## 1. Look before you change anything
- Find out which agent and which version you are. Ask me only if you cannot tell.
- Check for an existing Stav MCP server and existing Stav skills. Keep my other integrations. Do not install anything twice.
- The connection without the skills is not done. The skills without the connection are not done either.
## 2. Install
Where this agent has plugins, install the Stav plugin: it brings the MCP server and the skills in one step. Check the agent's own help before you run a command.
- Claude Code: `claude plugin marketplace add stavhq/customer-skills`, then `claude plugin install stav@customer-skills`. Inside a session: `/plugin marketplace add stavhq/customer-skills`, `/plugin install stav@customer-skills`, then `/reload-plugins`.
- Claude Desktop, Cowork or claude.ai: you cannot install a plugin from this chat, so run nothing. Tell me to open Customize → Plugins → Add marketplace, enter `stavhq/customer-skills`, and install Stav. If my plan has no plugins, tell me to add `https://stav.ai/mcp` under Customize → Connectors → Add custom connector instead.
- Codex CLI: `codex plugin marketplace add stavhq/customer-skills`, then `codex plugin add stav@customer-skills`.
- Cursor: add the marketplace `stavhq/customer-skills` and install `stav`, the way Cursor's current documentation describes.
- Hermes: `hermes mcp add stav --url https://stav.ai/mcp --auth oauth`, then `hermes skills install stavhq/customer-skills/plugins/stav/skills/<name>` for each of the four skills.
- Any other agent: add `https://stav.ai/mcp` as a remote (Streamable HTTP) MCP server. Then install the skills with the agent's skill manager, or with `npx skills add https://github.com/stavhq/customer-skills/tree/main/plugins/stav/skills`. If the agent has no skills, use the MCP server alone.
## 3. Sign in
- Use OAuth: my browser opens, I sign in to Stav and approve. In Codex, `codex mcp login stav` starts it.
- Never ask me to paste a password, token or API key into this chat or into a file in a repository.
- If I belong to several workspaces, tell me which one you are connected to.
## 4. Reload and prove it
- Reload the way this agent does it. Restart only if the new tools do not load otherwise.
- When the Stav tools are loaded, call `team_get_current`, then `models_shortlist` with `runs_in: "eu"` and `limit: 3`. Both are free.
- If a call says MCP is off for this workspace, tell me that an Owner or Admin turns it on in Your workspace → Connect → MCP Server (https://stav.ai/app/connect/integrations). Then stop.
- Installed, signed in and working are three different facts. Do not say it works until both calls have answered.
- Make no paid call during setup: no `inference_chat`, no `messages_create`, no tool that sends a request to a model.
## 5. Hand over
Keep progress notes short. End with one reply of 120 words or fewer, in my language, in this shape:
**Status** — one line: ready, or what blocked it.
**Next**
1. Only if needed: the reload step or the click I must make.
2. Try one of these, written the way this agent runs a skill (a slash command, a mention or plain words):
- move-to-stav (recommended) — move an app, or one feature, onto Stav.
- find-a-model — find the model that fits a task and your policy.
- set-policy — choose where your requests may run.
- cost-review — see where your credits go, and spend less.
Leave out versions, paths, tool counts and my other integrations unless they explain a blocker.
Approve the Stav sign-in in your browser when your agent asks. Then try move-to-stav on an app you want to move.
The skills
| Skill | What it does |
|---|---|
move-to-stav | Moves an app, or one feature of it, onto Stav: sets the policy, picks models inside it, makes a test key with a spend cap, proves one call and changes the code. |
find-a-model | Turns a task you describe into a short, explained list of models, and a Router if you want one. |
set-policy | Reads and sets where your requests may run: region, sovereignty level, zero data retention, no training, blocked providers. |
cost-review | Shows where your credits went and suggests a cheaper model that keeps the same policy. |
Every skill asks before it changes anything in your workspace. Your role decides what the agent may do: an agent signed in as a Member cannot change the policy.
Set up by hand
If you prefer to do it yourself, follow the steps for your agent. If the setup prompt already finished, skip to Update your skills.
Claude Code
Run in your terminal:
claude plugin marketplace add stavhq/customer-skills
claude plugin install stav@customer-skills
Inside a running session, use /plugin marketplace add stavhq/customer-skills and /plugin install stav@customer-skills, then /reload-plugins. Sign in when Claude Code asks, then try /stav:move-to-stav.
Claude Desktop, Cowork and claude.ai
Open Customize → Plugins → Add marketplace, enter stavhq/customer-skills, and install Stav. Start a new chat and type / to see the Stav skills.
If your plan has no plugins, add the MCP server under Customize → Connectors → Add custom connector with the URL https://stav.ai/mcp. The skills then need to be added one by one under Customize → Skills from the skills folder.
Codex CLI
codex plugin marketplace add stavhq/customer-skills
codex plugin add stav@customer-skills
codex mcp login stav
Restart Codex if the Stav tools do not show, then ask it to use move-to-stav.
Cursor
Add the plugin marketplace stavhq/customer-skills and install stav. The plugin brings the MCP server and the skills.
Hermes
hermes mcp add stav --url https://stav.ai/mcp --auth oauth
hermes skills install stavhq/customer-skills/plugins/stav/skills/move-to-stav
hermes skills install stavhq/customer-skills/plugins/stav/skills/find-a-model
hermes skills install stavhq/customer-skills/plugins/stav/skills/set-policy
hermes skills install stavhq/customer-skills/plugins/stav/skills/cost-review
Other agents
Add https://stav.ai/mcp as a remote (Streamable HTTP) MCP server — see Connect an MCP client. Then install the skills with your agent's skill manager, or with the skills CLI:
npx skills add https://github.com/stavhq/customer-skills/tree/main/plugins/stav/skills
Update your skills
New versions of the skills reach you through the plugin. Updating the MCP connection alone does not update the skills.
Paste this into the agent where you use Stav. It installs any Stav skill that is missing and updates the rest, so it also works when you added the MCP server by hand:
Install or update the Stav skills in this agent. The Stav MCP server (https://stav.ai/mcp) is already connected — keep it and my sign-in.
1. Find out which agent you are, and whether the four Stav skills — move-to-stav, find-a-model, set-policy and cost-review — are installed, and how.
2. Install the missing ones from https://github.com/stavhq/customer-skills the way this agent installs skills: the Stav plugin (stav@customer-skills) where it has plugins, else its skill manager. Do not add a second MCP server.
3. Update the ones already there the same way they were installed. Keep any edits I made; ask before you replace an edited file. Do not install anything twice.
4. Make no paid call: no inference_chat, no messages_create.
5. Reload the skills if this agent can, else tell me how. Check that all four are found.
End in my language, in two lines: what you installed or updated, and one thing I can ask you to try now.
Or by hand:
- Claude Code:
claude plugin marketplace update customer-skills, thenclaude plugin update stav@customer-skills. Auto-update can be turned on in/plugin→ Marketplaces. - Claude Desktop, Cowork, claude.ai: Customize → Plugins → Check for updates.
- Codex CLI:
codex plugin marketplace upgrade customer-skills, then restart Codex. - Hermes:
hermes skills check, thenhermes skills update <name>for each Stav skill. - Skills CLI:
npx skills update move-to-stav find-a-model set-policy cost-review.
